Life is a Carnival, Might as Well Enjoy the Ride

Because I’d rather be on a roller coaster than on a merry-go-round any day.

Well here I go again. My life flipped upside down, just when I get it righted back up. All of my careful propping up ready to topple all over again like a game of Jenga.

I feel like I’ve been tumbling around on a tilt-a-swirl at some crazy carnival.

Yet I spent the last several years soaring peacefully over the crowds below, feeling like I’m on a gondola flying high over the chaos below me. Ah, my favorite ride, just kicking back watching the world go by.

Not participating in it though, not really, not when I’m so safely tucked away from it. My desire to be merely a voyeur to this spectacle called life, my only goal sometimes, succumbing to the desire to crawl under my covers and peer out from my cozy little bed on all the craziness around me.

And now here I am, suddenly jolted with an electric shock right out of my comfy little roost, pretending to be Atlas Shrugged of all things, attempting to hold up my entire world so it doesn’t all go sliding off into the atmosphere again. Lost in space like Will Robinson, stranded in another galaxy, trapped in an environment that’s cozy and comfortable, but still trapped nonetheless.
