How The Frozen Movies Are A Metaphor For My Life

And why I consciously choose to be Elsa every day.

I can feel it beckoning me. The lure of crystal white powder blanketing the yard in pristine white. But alas, a snow day for my kids this week means one thing for this little writer mommy. It’s going to be twice as hard to get my work done with my children climbing the walls after coming in from some good old fashioned winter play outside. Maybe their unbounded energy is their super power.

As for me, I feel more like Elsa, born with some strange unexplained gift, only instead of ice blazing out from my fingertips in a crystallized spray, I feel the fire smoldering deep within my belly. It’s a powerful feeling, this surge of absolute knowing that this is the path that I need to be on, and it shakes me to my very core. And like Elsa, I can’t ignore it, even if I try.

The first Frozen movie had such an impact on my life because it was released in 2013, only a year after I jumped ship and moved from my hometown of Houston, Texas to Washington state with my hubby and kids to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. Not knowing a single person in Seattle, leaving all the support and network of family and friends behind.
