First off, let me say that I am both a writer and a salesperson. Or at least I used to be, in sales that is. I sure don’t miss being mired in the retail world, though. I spent twelve years of my life hustling like crazy, making it up into management at both Pier 1 Imports as well as an art gallery I used to work at when I was in college. And I admit it. I was a damn good salesgirl back in the day.

From The Inspiration that You Have To Feel

So maybe it’s no surprise that I got into copywriting. I am a huge fan of Madmen, after all. And I have always loved just writing for the sake of writing. That’s probably why I hung out in college for so long. With my history and English degree, all those research papers were actually really fun to write, tedious though they seemed at the time.

So for me, it felt like a natural transition to move from retail into the copywriting world. Helping businesses make money, well that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Especially if I can support small businesses who are really trying to make a difference in the world. Those solopreneurs who have ambition and drive but lack the art of effective persuasion. And it sure is an art.
